Private & Group Sound Healing Sessions

Deep Relaxation · Nervous System Regulation · Sound & Altered States of Consciousness

Sound Healing is an immersive experience of sound, vibration and deep listening, offered in both private 1:1 sessions and group sessions.

Each journey combines the vibrations of Tibetan singing bowls placed directly on and around the body, crystal singing bowls, gong, therapeutic instruments and the human voice to create a rich field of sound that can be experienced not only through hearing, but also physically through vibration.

In a private session, the experience can be adapted to the individual, allowing more space for personal intention, rest and focused work with sound and vibration. Group sessions create a shared sound field while allowing each participant to experience their own individual inner journey.

How Sound Works with the Body

Sound is vibration. We perceive it through the auditory system, while low-frequency vibrations from instruments—particularly singing bowls placed on or close to the body—can also be experienced through the skin and tissues as tactile vibration.

The repetitive tones, long resonances, harmonics and overtones of gongs and singing bowls can give the mind a continuous sensory focus. Rather than following melody, rhythm or musical structure analytically, the listener is invited simply to receive.

As attention gradually turns inward, muscular tension may soften, breathing may become slower and the constant stream of thought can become less dominant. The intention is to create conditions that support rest, nervous-system regulation, body awareness and a shift from doing into simply being.

Participants may experience deep relaxation, reduced perceived stress and tension, greater body awareness, emotional release, mental spaciousness, meditative states and an overall feeling of grounding and restoration. Experiences are highly individual and no particular response is expected or required.

Sound & Altered States of Consciousness (ASC)

Sound can also support the transition into Altered States of Consciousness (ASC)—states in which our usual patterns of attention, thinking, perception and sense of time may temporarily shift. Deep relaxation and meditative absorption can be examples of such experiences.

Through sustained vibration, repetition, frequencies and complex overtones, attention may gradually move away from external stimulation and analytical thinking toward a quieter and more receptive inner state.

Deep relaxation and meditation are often associated with increased alpha and theta brain activity, although individual responses vary and a Sound Healing session cannot be assumed to produce a particular brainwave state.

Within these deeply relaxed or altered states, some people experience emotional processing, spontaneous imagery, heightened inner awareness, creativity and insight, changes in their perception of time, profound stillness, or a sense of connection and unity.

One framework proposed in neuroscience is transient hypofrontality, associated with Arne Dietrich. It suggests that during certain altered states, some higher-order cognitive processes involving the prefrontal cortex may temporarily become less dominant. This has been proposed as one possible explanation for experiences such as reduced self-monitoring and changes in our usual perception of self and time.

The purpose of Sound Healing is not to force an altered state or a specific experience. Instead, sound, vibration, repetition and deep listening create an environment in which the body and mind are invited to slow down, receive and rest.

When thinking becomes quieter, listening can become deeper.
