Alma was presented with success in February 2024

at Theatre Mundial in Spain.

This semi-staged recital for mezzo-soprano and piano, paired with audio-reactive visuals, invites the audience on a profound journey into the depths of the soul.

The body is the temple of the soul.

The eyes are its windows.

And the voice, its root.

Emotions are the language of the soul, and through nine languages—Russian, French, Italian, German, English, Hungarian, Greek, Czech, and Spanish—the Greek mezzo-soprano Leonora Gaitanou, accompanied by pianist Konstantinos Papadakis, guides us on a journey to reconnect with our innermost selves.

This unique semi-staged recital is more than just a concert; it is an awakening. The voice is brought to life through poetic body movement, and for the first time in an operatic recital, it interacts live with video, creating a dynamic, immersive experience that calls us to delve deeper into our own souls.

What is the connection between opera, theatre, and the soul’s journey?

In opera, each role is seen as an incarnation of the soul—expressed through different lifetimes, wearing different bodies and playing different roles. Each language sung represents the various ways a soul expresses its emotions through time, in different forms and across different cultures.

This recital paints a picture of the soul’s journey through multiple incarnations. Just as the soul “wears” various costumes (bodies) and plays diverse roles throughout its timeless journey, it speaks many languages to express the breadth of its emotions. Each aria, each song, and each solo piano piece reflects different facets of this journey.

For the first time, the voice interacts with video as a shadow on this journey—soul and image in a constant, living dialogue. Additionally, some of the arias and piano pieces are associated with the seven Chakras, creating a sensory awakening for the audience. Through these musical moments, the recital aims to ignite different energies and emotions within the listeners, aligning them with the flow of the soul’s eternal journey.

Alma is a call from your soul. To Remember.

Comment for Alma from the audience in Spain:

-‘’I arrive at the hall without knowing anything about Alma except the one I read at the theatres’ page. Its’ little and I like it very much. I am interested in the quotation: ‘’The Body is the Temple of the Soul. The eyes are its mirror, and the voice its root’’. I really like it to be a show with the voice and the soul as the protagonist. I buy the ticket. I think its good that artists are already on stage when we enter. Punctual start. The staging of the different songs, successful. I am surprised by this dark, very rich, full and well rooted voice. I didn’t expect it. She moves and expresses herself impressively well. Curious actions, curious costumes, curious languages...The eyes follow the performer more but the projected video also accompanies profoundly and gives information. Thanks to all those who made possible this 360 show’’ Agusti G., self employed
